You Might Consider Getting the Sangean WR-2 in White
Three years after it first came out, the Sangean WR-2 seems to have improved on FM. Its AM has always been great. I had a walnut one back in 2005 and the FM was so-so, but based on Ed Strnad's recommendation, I bought a newer model. I got one in black, a very high-gloss black at that. I have to dust it twice a day. I avoided the white because it looked so plain in the photos. But today I saw Ed's in his kitchen and I realized the photos don't do any justice to the white color. It looks clean. And it's low-maintenance.
Another advantage of the white radio is that the silver buttons can be seen in a dark room. Not so with the black radio's black buttons. So for ease of use in while you're toggling in the middle of the night, you will be better served with the white version.
I thought I'd try FM on his WR-2. 89.3 came in loud and clear. Even 88.9, the weak college station, came in clearly. My black version gets the same great FM and AM. But if I could do it all over, I would have got the white one.

I love the WR-2 in black. I haven't had to dust it much at all, but then, you have a dog, right? I'm sure that makes a big difference.

Yeah, I have a Finnish Spitz. There is shedding and that is a factor. So you find no fingerprint problems? I do. I have to be careful. The white is so much more mellow to own. Oh well. Black does look good in the bedroom. I notice you have to crank up the volume to 30 before you hear it well.

I don't really touch it too much, I guess, except when I set the alarm. I use the remote a lot, mostly to set the sleep timer and change stations.

I shouldn't worry so much, sweating over the small stuff. My wife just reminded me that we need to give money to the people in what was formerly Burma.
