Paul has alerted us to this rare R-441B, bidding for $35 on eBay. Very intriguing.

I owned one of these for a while. Tremendous, strong bassy sound. Had a lot of volume, probably in the 5 watt region. Very sturdy build with a steel frame, I think. AM was extremely sensitive with pretty good selectivity. SW was also very sensitive but maybe not in the same league as the AM. I mainly sold it because for an "around the house" portable with great sound it was a shame to me that it didn't have FM. But no other complaints at all.

I would love to get this one, but I just purchased a restored Philco Tube radio. I have fond memories of the old Philco radios my grandfather had when I was a child.
My mom still has one of my grandfather's old Philco radios, but it needs power supply work, caps replaced, etc. It hasn't been used in probably twenty years.
