Sony ICF-EX5 Buy Now for $155 Plus $38 Shipping on eBay
Intrigued by Val's praise of the ICF-EX5, I found one selling on eBay for a grand total of $193. Something tells me this might be my next radio. But I have one question: How does the speaker sound?
What is the country of manufacture?

There is an excellent review of the Sony ICF-EX5 written by Gary De Bock on the DXer.ca website located here:

Note that some of the source references at the bottom of the article may be outdated, and the current $155.00 + $38 S/H seems to be the best price on eBay.
There is another Japanese eBay seller that sometimes carries used ICX-EX5's as well as new in box. His eBay handle is: dejl1myt -- I purchased my Sony ICF-T615 from him for $95 + $20 S/H. He will be happy to correspond with you if you have a request. If you like, you can mention my name, Norm Clark, and jog his memory, as I corresponded with him for several months encouraging him to carry both the T615 and the EX5 for sale to the DX community.
Thanks, Norm

Norm, I posted your comment. Thanks. If you have photos of the T615, please send them to me and any comments.

It is not Boston Acoustic Recepter Radio, and of course doesn’t have soft and enjoyable bass. Speaker makes you feel discovery but not comfort of hi-fidelity. I believe it made for reason. What is the reason I just can guess? But is not bad. Music like jazz and classic on FM enjoyable. Definition of instruments is very distinguished. Rock, Pop not bad but with big bass speaker better. Some one AM station I tried to pick up on Toshiba RP-1600F, the speaker has more bass and more enjoyable on FM. On AM it was effect of sound from distant. To increase volume I got more noise. Sony ICF-EX5 made in Japan.

Thanks for the info, Val. Sounds like a middle of the road speaker.
