The Fatal Flaw of the Sony ICF-M1000--Weak FM Antenna

Sony ICF-M1000 Table Top Radio

Several months ago I purchased a Sony ICF-M1000 for $45 on Amazon. Now the price is up to the ridiculous $150. Even at $45, I ended up selling the radio because its FM antenna was a joke: its AC adapter chord. Now Wulf supports my contention about the M1000's fatal flaw:

While audio quality is subjective, I have to agree with you on the FM reception. This radio really needs a 75ohm FM antenna to pull in stations. A simple "T" FM antenna with a coax connector will do just fine. The cord "antenna" is a joke and so sensitive that a few millimeters will make a big difference. For the price that these have come down to ($45-$50) I still feel that they are a bargin. The reception issue may not even show up if you live in a strong reception area, or at least the FM stations you listen to are strong. Again, radios receiving over the air broadcasts have always had this weakness and it either works for you in your location with your stations or it doesn't.
