A dead Sony?
Hell has indeed frozen over.

Sorry about your bad luck! Mine's fantastic.

After receiving my returned dead SONY, Wall Street Photo did send me a new radio.I failed to make it clear enough, both are the ICF-F10s model which tunes AM and SW, instead of AM and FM. The second radio is a solid B in performance, which is a bargain at $50 delivered. It gets many stations on both AM and SW, and the sound is good too. The speaker appears to be just over 3 inches in diameter, and it came with a sticker promising 200 hours out of a pair of D cells. To give such long battery life, the audio output is only 150 mW, but the audio has some lower frequency sounds, and is not at all tiring to listen to. I tried driving efficient out board speakers, and they increases both the volume and audio range. A single 5-8 inch cone is about right. There is little or no noise between stations, and no whistles or whines on SW. With coverage from 5 to 18 Mhz. on one band, the stations appear close on the dial. With careful tuning, it is not that hard to find each one, and I didn't notice any problem with nearby stations interfering with each other. For me, this is an ideal inexpensive radio for camping or a picnic. The long battery life would be great during a power outage. - FARMERIK
