Earlier I posted my positive first impressions of the Sangean CL-100. After putting the babies asleep, I set up the CL-100 in the bedroom, scrolled through the menu and programmed everything through my earbuds, which was a mistake because the siren volume went off in my ears when I set it to LOW. No doubt I won't be winning any electronics safety awards. After that I disabled the siren.
I decided not to program for emergencies at this point. I may later. For now, I want the CL-100 to replace my Sangean WR-2 as a bedside radio. Here's the comparison in one important area: The speakers on the CL-100 don't produce as much fidelity but I find talk more clear through the speaker. Also, music sounds better on the CL-100 through the earbuds.
My major complaint so far about the CL-100 is the placement of the earbuds/headphone jack. It's in the very back, which means the earbud cord can pull the radio. In contrast, the WR-2 has the jack correctly placed in the front. I might look for a longer earbud cord as my moving about in bed all night might jerk the radio off the table.
I started listening to 710 ESPN around 9:30 P.M. and kept it there until I woke up this morning a little after 5. So far I'm relatively happy with the CL-100 as I have more table room for books, notepads, Kindle, etc.
