I have a black Sangean 909, which has been all good. Reviews of the 909X did not seem to raise QC issues, rather were more along the lines of those who liked or disliked the radio.
On a related note, the PL660 Yahoo group has seeing quite a few QC related posts over the past few weeks. I like both radios. However, the quality of the 909 is much better than the 660.
