I bought a second-hand Eton S450DLX recently.
The audio was severely distorted on all bands (but it's just fine via headphone). I opened the radio and found no visible damage to the speaker. However, a friend told me he bought two RP2100 and one had a bad speaker on arrival. I decided to do some further test. I first connected the audio output of S450 to an external speaker and it sounded pretty good; I then connected an external audio source to the S450 speaker and the audio was distorted.
The faulty speaker is marked as 4ohm 5 watt. the assembly dimension on S450 is 97mm by 97mm (four holes) and the cut-out is 120mm diameter. One of the speakers I could find which fit the spec. is Monacor SP-13/4 (4ohm 20W).
I acquired one and installed it on the S450 and it sounds really nice at the moment.
There is just one minor issue: the magnet on the SP-13/4 is larger than the original speaker so I had to cut off a thin layer from the inner corner of the battery compartment in order to fit the speaker in.
BTW, there seems to be some free space inside and it might be possible to fit a tweeter in (just like Sangean ATS818ACS).
Below are two photos I took after opening the radio. The circuit is certainly redesigned on the basis of RP2100. The audio amp is CD8227GP.
