Everyone who reads this blog knows I went from Invicta to Seiko in the last several months. I have a few Citizen Eco-Drive models as well and I study them a lot. I have to say that for price point, convenience, reliability, and build quality (even cheap Eco-Drives use higher grade clasp metal than Seikos), the Eco-Drive is probably the best place to start for a watch novice on a budge, say, $200-500.
The clear adhesive wrap on the back of some watches, with the red line on it----what is that for, and are you supposed to remove it?

I hope you're supposed to because I always remove it. I guess it's about scratch protection during shipping.

Amazon has a similar one:

Here's another one with the perpetual calendar, but without world time:

Gary, Paul wants the first one. I like the look of the second one you linked us to. And I should point out I'm really liking the one I've used as the photo, the AT8010-58E, about 290 on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130804543194?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I guess the first one I linked to on Amazon is radio controlled, but the second one isn't. I prefer the looks of the second one.

Yeah, I like the Breitling styling of the second one.

Gary, the one you like is a lot cheaper on eBay, $230: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Citizen-BL5470-57L-Eco-Drive-Stainless-Steel-Blue-Dial-Mens-Watch-NWT-/130804546839?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item1e748efd17

Jeff - Thanks for the info. Boy, there are a lot of Eco-Drive styles on eBay, both new and used.
I think having a radio controlled version would be nice.

Yeah, a good argument could be made that eco drive gives best bang for the buck.
