I have read several reviews of this radio that say
there is an issue with the volume control.
The volume is ether too load or too soft.
Does anyone know about this?

I already have a Grundig G-8.
Is this a better radio?

There is very little modulation for volume, it is controlled via a button vs dial. This is the only thing I do not like about the unit. Great performer for its cost.

This radio is infamous for its volume problem, but personally I think it's overstated. The volume is adjusted by steps, and it's true, the steps available often are a little too loud or a little too soft. But the radio actually has a really nice warm sound and good reception for its size. It's amazingly small, too, so it's a fine little unit for taking on a walk.
