There is an appealing line of Seiko Prospex Solar watches from Japan, including this SBCB015. Can't get a bezel size indication on the site. Probably around 42mm or so. There's also a nice blue dial version, the SBCB013. And while not quite my style, the $985 SBDM001 might be of interest to some.

I'd spend the extra $150 on a Sumo. As you said on my blog, calling something "ghetto" means we likely won't buy it; I think the same is true for "alternative," or at least we shouldn't think in those terms. These watches stand on their, anyhow.

Maybe not Sumo alternative, but they look classy. I would like to know more about them but they appear to be brand new.
