I killed a black widow this evening as I was taking my dog Gretchen for her evening walk. The spider was where I always find--and kill--them: just outside the back sliding glass door.
About once a month, I'll kill a black widow and then it will be replaced by another. This has been going on for the ten years I've lived in this house, so I guess I've killed close to a hundred of these venomous creatures. Must be a prime feeding spot.
I wonder if there's anything you can spray back there----to keep them away? I haven't seen Black Widows here in Virginia----but we do have spiders that have venom and bite-----big ones. I think my little boy was bitten when we first moved in this house (he was only 2-3 years old and it caused a lump on his leg----doctor said it looked like a spider bite.). I've killed large spiders once in a while----might be brown recluse?
