David P has apprised us of this eBay offering, a Sharp Z-1000. Don't know about the performance, but I like the style.

Sorry Herculodge, Sharp radios are not worthy of being mentioned with Sony's or real vintage radios. Poor quality stuff like Sharp's were the beginning of the end for higher quality radios.

@Shawn, I think it depends on which decade we're discussing. No, I wouldn't consider Sharp on the same level as Sony or Matsushita/Panasonic, but Sharp did produce some high-quality radios, boomboxes and cassette players in the 70's and 80's. Since circa 1990, they seem more focused on office equipment and other home electronics, microwave ovens, calculators, alarm clocks, etc.

Did Channel Master morph into Sharp, or am I thinking about Sanyo? I have a couple Channel Master "Super Fringe" AM radios from the 1960s that are exceptional performers. Sharp did make some decent electronics. No, not Sony or Panasonic, but worthy of discussion in a general sense.
