Go for the grail. Unlike its more lowly brothers, the SBDB009 (like most Spring-Drive powered watches) is immaculately finished, and of course the continuously sweeping hand is unusual and mesmerising.

I'll add my vote to the grail. It is a beautiful watch with the most accurate (not to mention smoothest) mechanical movement in the world.

Jonny,

Are Spring Drive movements mechanical or quartz? A thread I read on Watchuseek implied that they are quartz, but above you said mechanical.

Gary

On ABlogtoWatch it says Spring Drive movements are powered by a spring but with a quartz regulator, so I guess they're both mechanical and quartz.

Ulysses

They're mechanical with quartz speed regulation. It's like having a timing machine built into the watch.

Angelo

I'll be the contrarian. If I'm spending nearly $3000.00, I think I'm out of Seiko's line and into something else.

Angelo, I'm not hungry for the 3K Seiko. The price point is too high. It would have to be 1,800 tops.
