It's about time someone designed a DSP-based radio on which the soft mute and tuning mute can be disabled. Hopefully others will implement these features in their future designs.

Unfortunately, it has even worse MW AM reception than the PL-660, which wasn't very good anyway, so I'll pass.

I might be of interest to some folks that Sangean has discontinued the ATS 404 (naturally) and also the ATS 505. The 505 has had quite a few fans, including myself. I haven't heard if Sangean will replace it with a new radio (such as the 506).
