Your Mapping Components Should Be Nouns--Usually

A student turned in her thesis and mapping components in the following way:

Wiley and Anders have classic narcissistic traits, which include being obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, devoid of empathy, interpersonally exploitative, and constantly envious of others.

The problem with the mapping components is that they lack parallel structure.

An improved, revised sentence would look like this:

Wiley and Anders have narcissistic traits, which include their obsession with fantasies of unlimited success, their lack of empathy, their need to exploit others, and their incurable envy.
