Two. A Successful
Product Uses Myth to Increase Its Appeal
1. Mini Cooper represents the
sushi-eating, Perrier-sipping independent hipster who lives out of the
mainstream, out of the rat race and is more clever and more intelligent than
others. Of course, the Mini Cooper Driver has better taste.
2. The Apple iMac user is creative,
“ahead of the curve,” endowed with superior taste and education. The iMac user
lives above the ignorant masses, the brutish hordes.
3. Mini Cooper and iMac feed off similar
mythologies so it’s not uncommon for Mini Cooper drivers to use Macs.
Three. Writing Options:
Option A: Write a contrast essay about the More Factor as it
pertains to the SUV and the Less Factor as it pertains to the Mini Cooper and
Apple products. How is myth used in the
marketing of these products?
Option B: Write a research paper on the rise and fall of the
SUV: How did its positive mythology get replaced with negative connotations?
