The Sangean WR-2, which goes for $125-150 on Amazon, depending on sales, seems to be the same radio as the $200 Music Hall RDR-1. I stated this in an Amazon review but a reader "corrected" me by telling me that the RDR-1 boasts a bigger, louder speaker. However, both speakers are 3 inches and produce 7 watts. So what gives?
Last night I was playing my Sangean WR-2 in my bedroom and was having trouble with KPCC 89. 3 and KJAZZ 88.1 so I resorted to using my "back-up" radio, my FM King, the Kaito 1103. The 1103 "grabbed" both 89.3 and 88.1 with no problem. Of course, it doesn't produce the rich sound of my WR-2 and its AM doesn't sound as good. That's why I keep the 1103 on top of my WR-2 so that both can cover for each others' weaknesses.

OEMing/rebadging is common. The CC Radio-SW is also the Kaito 2200 for about 50 bucks more, too. http://www.ccrane.com/radios/shortwave-radios/ccradio-sw.aspx

I meant Kaito 2100

Yes, but at least the CC clone boasts a different, supposedly upgraded, AM internal antenna over the 2100. In the case of the 2200, it's the same radio indeed. Either the radios are clones or have different interfaces like the Kaito 1103 and the Grudnig G5 and Eton E5.

Not the 2200 but the SWP that appears to be a Tecsun or a Redsun clone. Jeff

That's the same radio, just compare the specs and there is not a single line that differs. So, aside from looking identical I'd say it's the same radio... Just my two amateur cents... Cheers - QB

QB, That's what I thought.
I think the Boston Acoustic Horizon Solo is a better sounding radio and less expensive.
