First, the good news. The C.Crane Reflect FM Antenna, which cost me $30, considerably improved the FM reception on my Tivoli Model One. Reception was stronger on all FM stations, especially 89.3 KPCC. But look at the eyesore in my office. In the same office is an Eton Sound 100 and with its stock FM telescopic antenna, it gets all the stations fine. I bought the Tivoli because I wanted a good analog radio with a rich speaker but I think I'm going to take down the Reflect antenna and just use the Tivoli for KJAZZ 88.1 and KUSC 91.5. The Tivoli receives these stations with no problem but overall has not satisfied me with its FM reception.
As for now, I have made the antenna less conspicuous by moving it left of the Tivoli so that it drapes my CD shelf. And I'm only using the Tivoli for 88.1, 89.9, and 91.5 when I want to enjoy the Tivoli's rich speaker for music.
You don't have the antenna installed properly. You need to unfurl it. (IE-straighten/stretch the two ends out (like outstretched arms) and tack those ends to the wall horizontally. You can tack it and hide it behind the bookcase.
