For $49.95 plus $14.95 shipping, Radios4You is selling the Emerson MBR1, which reportedly gets good AM/FM reception but not as good speaker sound as the now extinct RCA (formerly GE) Superradio. Shortwave is reported to be weak.
I personally wouldn't buy the Emerson. If you're new to radios and looking for a "substitute" for the Superradio, you might be better off forking out $99 for the Eton S350 DL. I have one in red and it rocks.
I owned the Emerson briefly, it's kinda cheap, plastic-y, but had a good speaker, not hi-fi, but good-sounding. Not as good sounding as the 2-way SuperRadio though.

Speaker doesn't sound as good. Thanks. But what about reception? Inferior also?

Reception was just OK, nothing exceptional. Hey, what do you want for 49 bucks when it also includes a microphone for PA use?

Someone is selling a new PR-D5 for $19 on Amazon, but their rating is only 67%. Sounds suspicious.

Ed, I just figured out the "briefly" part of your Emerson MBR-1 ownership. Just fired up the one I bought off eBay, and it's pretty deaf. Might not be bad for local stations, though.
