A few months ago, I purchased a Brother DCP 7020 from Amazon for $162.99 with free shipping. I kept it inside the box until today when I decided to mate it with my new iMac.

Maybe I'm being rash. I should call Brother indeed. But will I? I have little patience. We'll see.

If it does not turn on and gives you all his trouble, it may be a defective unit...
Also, I would check their website to see if there is new software -- sometimes the software that is in the box is old and a new version will fix some flaws.
Of course fixing it now will never completely restore your trust in this machine...
Good luck!

Shipping costs for repair are greater than many printers. What a dud it is. Never again will I buy that brand. Jeff

I recently bought an HP all-in-one for 10$ (Canadian)... Some kind of shelf-clearing sale I guess... The guy at the store mentioned that it actually did cost less than the price of the 2 included print cartridges.
Not only is it not cost-effective to repair these all-plastic devices, sometimes it is not even cost-effective to replace the cartridges!

I'm currently using my old HP 1012 LaserJet, which has never given me any problems. The Brother is in the garage and I will probably take it to an e-waste center soon.
