A marriage may seem great when the champagne keeps pouring and the vacations seem never-ending, but you don't know its true health and strength until you and your spouse deal with a crisis. See how you two act when your plumbing is out and you've got smelly plumbers working throughout your house all day and you're being charged 200% because it's a Sunday. If you two weather that storm with good cheer and humor or have a meltdown involving hurtful aspersions, you're now showing your marriage's true colors.
Likewise with radios. When all is fine, you don't think about them much. You assume they're good performers. Today, though, KPCC 89.3 wasn't coming in during my workout. First, it wouldn't come in on my Tivoli Songbook, which I had just posted was a very capable FM tuner. Then it wouldn't come in with my Sangean PR-D5, which I had just posted had slightly better FM than my Songbook. With KPCC giving both radios problems, no matter how I positioned their telescopic antennas, I gave up on them and brought in my analog Eton S350 DL. It grabbed 89.3 KPCC with no problem. It stays in the workout room.
