Thanks to my readers, I now know, during my vacation break, that the Grundig Satellite 750 is for sale for $300 as a back order on both Amazon and Universal radio.

Universal Radio processed my order. They didn't say it was on backorder...yet.

So you paid 12 or so for shipping?
I'm back from Vegas. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to post, but for now I'm convalescing from the Golden Ashtray.
I doubt I'd go back.

I'd be interested in reading your impressions of Sin City.

I'm still absorbing it. My wife and I agreed there is a sadness that pervades the place, as all these people seem to be trying too hard to "have fun."

this is an e-mail from universal radio:
We have a few in. Not nearly enough to cover existing orders. I would
suggest placing an order they are going to be in limited supply for a while.

I'm hoping Ed will get one, review it, and then I'll make a decision.

I hope I get one too, Jeff. Now Universal has put me on a 2-week backorder---end of August at the earliest.

I'll be stoked if I can post your review in 3 weeks or so.

With the luck I've been having with my postings here lately, someone probably beat me to this, but here are some nice shots of the 750 on top of the 800 that give a sense of scale :

A member of the Yahoo GS750 group came up with that one.

Maybe I should have mentioned the photos are way down on the bottom of the page for that link.
You know, Jeff, as much as both of us have touted the 750 as the antidote to those little modern radios that look like purses, on top of the 800, the 750 looks - esp. in that second photo taken from the side - remarkably like a handbag.

I like the look. I don't see a handbag at all. Rather, I see a rugged suitcase, a look I rather like.
Ed bought one and should get it in a couple of weeks. I hope to post his review soon, get photos, etc.
I hope it sounds good. I'm currently using my PR-D5 for my bedside radio. My only complaint is the speaker sound.

I was kind of kidding with the "handbag" crack, the probability that I'll buy a GS750 is about 99%, and I basically like the look. I do think the top folding handle and the side handles are a little out-of-scale for the set, but that's a quibble.
It will be great to read Ed's and other people's feedback on the 750.
I agree about the PR-D5. Close up it's not bad at all though, that's why it's a good bedside radio.

The PR-D5 beats my more expensive WR-2, no shabby radio by any means, in both AM and FM. That's why it's by my bed.
