In truth, sir, if I did not know better I should begin to suspect that this entire blog is nothing more than a tissue-this rationale for the purchase of more radios than any sensible fellow would indulge in.

I flipped my CSW on eBay as well. Hard to say why, it was just a little underwhelming.

Mike W

That was meant to be "tissue-thin", not "tissue-this".

I can't even keep my BS straight anymore, must be age catching up.

jeffrey McMahon

Angst might take over any man who realized his whole life was a farce, that a blog presumably designed to address various subjects of import was just a veil for indulging his whimsy.

Ed

actually it's FOUR D rechargeable batteries.

Ed

I cant sell mine off, the damn FM switch is intermittent.

Carrie

Whoa, I meant 4 batteries. Thanks.

Mike W

So that means there are two types of CSW owners, the ones who sell it on eBay and the ones who can't because it's broken. Meanwhile the old Panasonics are still chugging along.

jeffrey McMahon

But now Ed has the newest HD radio from Sony and if it performs like he says it does, it's going to be a Sangean PR-D5 killer.

It's only $99. I got mine for $75 with a coupon. Couldn't resist.

Ed

And you'll qualify for the $50 rebate, too. So you got it for $25!
You may not like all the dangling wire of the FM dipole and the outboard AM loop... it ties the Sony to one spot. So no portability as the PRD5 affords.

jeffrey McMahon

Okay, so I'll have to use it in my office or the piano room.

The rebate has to be sent with the ID on the box, so I have to get the radio before the deadline.

Ed

But as long as your Amazon receipt shows your purchase date as 9-27, you'll get the rebate. It's date of purchase that counts, not when you mail it in.

jeffrey McMahon

Excellent news, so the radio will cost me $25 after all.

Ed

Don't be shocked when you see how small it is. When it was delivered, I saw the Amazon.com box and thought "What paperback did I order?"

jeffrey McMahon

Small is a good thing. Having a wire AM and another FM dipole antenna is not so good. I'll have to do some creative work to hide those wires. It will probably go in my office because those wires will be too conspicuous in the piano/living room.

Brian (Scooby214)

My piano is an upright one. I could hide the AM antenna and hook the FM up to my yagi antenna in the attic.

I could see one of those little radios on my piano, though I'd probably move my black Tivoli back to the living room as an amp so it would better match (color wise) the HD receiver. Plus, the Tivoli has an AUX switch, while my WR-1, that currently lives on the piano, doesn't. I wouldn't want to unplug the cable every time I wished to use the WR-1's analog amp.
