All that and presumably no melted rubber either. Score (yet another)one for yesteryear's radios. Also, I have to say that I am a shortwave listener---and for my collection, I used to only look for radios with the shortwave band. However, lately, I've concluded that as long as I have a couple good shortwave sets, there's no reason to limit myself to SW on any new radios I acquire. Typically though, I've found that on vintage radios, more bands equals better quality. Seems as though the period of 1965-1975 featured multiple bands on the better portables. For this reason, I usually end up with PSB/WB on my non-shortwave radios, and I will review a couple specific models here soon. The Sony featured in this review is a beauty.

I have ICF-5900 for the last 15 years. It is a very good receiver.
