Yesterday my wife, her sister, and her sister's 18-month-old daughter went to American Girl, an elaborate super doll store at The Grove in Los Angeles.
I was stunned when my wife described the store's products and services: A tea room so you can drink tea with your doll; an outfit store so you can buy an outfit that matches your doll's; a diaper bag room so you can buy diapers for your doll; and my favorite: a hair styling center so you can have your doll's hair coiffed in any manner you want. Wow.
And I thought we radio people were insane.

Getting one's doll's hair done is ten times more insane than any radio obsession. I feel consoled.

Wow - sounds like you had a wonderful time. The AG Dolls are expensive but they do provide historical context and have books to help girls cope with growing up.

Books and historical context are great, but I'm not sure spending hundreds of dollars styling a doll's hair helps girls cope with growing up.
