I have no idea if this Sony 2R-26 radio is worth $995. The seller says it's one of the first preset radios and I infer this makes it a collector's item. I believe it is. This radio is so old, "preset" was two words.

Seller is nuts. And it's the 2nd time he's listed it at this ridiculous price. I sold one of these, it's worth less than $75.

My theory that some sellers tell their wives they'll sell their radios but don't really intend to do so. It's all an act.

For that price, I'd expect several (say, seven or eight) of these radios...it isn't worth anything near the requested opening bid.

He doesn't really want to sell it. I'd sell my Panasonic RF-1130 for $2,000. Big deal.

He's fishing for a "sucker fish" and it's not working on this blog. I guess if a wealthy old retired Sony executive had worked on this project and, for some reason, didn't have one of these---he could buy it for nostalgia as an office decoration. I'd say that is a very limited audience of possibly zero people. My "out on the limb" prediction is that this won't sell at this price. I doubt he'd get $100.00 for it.

the secret is that it contains a couple ounces of pure heroin hidden within. or perhaps plutonium.

Or he believes that a high prices creates a mystique. To me, though, the high price is lugubrious.

It means something is so pathetic that is becomes ridiculous and laughable, like Richard Lewis having Thanksgiving alone and wearing a black arm band while carving his turkey.

I would like to purchase a Circa 1966 Sony 2R-26 in good condition for its actual worth.
Thanks
