As of posting, there are no bidders on this Concert Boy 4000, which appears in great condition. Starting bid is $20. Thanks, Gerald.

E-Bay "ATTRAIT" 130289617987
Never heard of the brand, but the chassis looks familiar. Due to a missing battery cover, this might stay in single digits---my guess is it's surprisingly good.

Serious radio eye candy on that link, Angelo. Thanks.

Ed,
How come? I have to admit I never listened to him, so I know next to nothing about him and his programming. What was it like?

Oh, I liked Paul Harvey. He was a throwback to another era. I remember in the mid-1970's, my older sister commented how Paul Harvey sounds "old fashioned." Over 30 years later, the guy was still on the air! I liked him because there wasn't anything else like him or his show---he was unique. I imagine his son (who filled in for him a lot), Paul Harvey Jr., will keep the franchise going.

Two more radios of interest:
290299124946
220366940310
The "Plata" looks like a very heavy duty Wards Airline clone from the 60's. FM isn't working on this one, but I bet the AM is good.
The Zenith is a seldom seen model, probably from the 70's. i like the "hidden tuner."

Paul Harvey was a rabid McCarthy-ite in the 50's, almost became racist George Wallace's VP, and was militantly homophobic and anti-liberal. On his "news" show he plugged any bogus "cancer-cure" that paid him enough, and carried the right-wing's water for 50 years. Should have retired 40 years ago.

I believe Paul Harvey was one of Bose radio's favorite advertisers, and everyone who reads this blog just loves Bose radios.

Well, if we hate any broadcasters who are politically extreme (right or left), precious few are left not to hate. I can't think of anyone who is neutral now.

I listen to Larry Mantle on 89.3. He is no idealogue for either party. He's fair and explores both sides of an issue.
Paul Harvey is comfort food for a lot of people. I don't hate him. He just doesn't match my sensibility, which is a bit more ironic, edgy.

Larry Mantle is great. I listen to his podcasts from KPCC in my car, any time I get a chance. Now if I could actually listen to him live on the radio here, that would be even better ...
