Not all Magnavox radios intrigue me, but this mint condition portable does. Notice the push-buttons on top. This appears to be an upscale model.

Probably the worst ebay radio ad I've seen. See item 250365255059.
If you are tempted to bid, read the question/answer section of the listing.
It took me 3 days to get a very fuzzy cell phone photo of the radio, which is a "Superadio I" (not II) as best as I can tell.

Received my Panasonic RF-888 yesterday. It was surprisingly clean and completely scratch free, requiring very minor cleanup (believe me, I'm picky). If I want to be an absolute perfectionist I would try to locate a silver color touch up paint for a small part of the top trim which has faded in color (any suggestions? Ed, others?). Other than that the radio works very well and has beautiful audio. It even came in its original box, $55 plus shipping.
Thanks to Ed's advice, I opened it up and air sprayed the inside, which fixed the scratchy volume knob problem too.

Paul: Go to a hobby store where they sell models and model trains. Usually, they have "Chrome" touch up paint or "Chrome" spray paint. You might have to go for the spray paint, which looks more like foil. If you want to touch up with a brush, spray the chrome paint on a piece of handi-wrap or other plastic wrap---or a plastic bag and quickly dip the brush in it while it's puddled and wet, then paint as you normally would. I suggest masking around the touch up area with tape so you don't blotch outside the area that you want to touch up. I've done this and it makes for a really nice repair. Also, for missing antenna tips----model a piece of "Mighty Putty" into a shape that looks like an antenna tip and mold it on the top of the antenna. After a day, it's dry and hard and can then be painted silver, black or red---whatever you want it to be, and it makes the antenna look whole again. For missing battery compartment doors...well, that's for another time, but I've found ways to do it!

Paul: The "silver" paint trim around the top of my 888 was worn and spotty, looked bad, so I decided to remove it. I used a slightly abrasive "Mr. Clean Magic Sponge" and it came right off. I like the plain black plastic, it looks cleaner than that fake metal paint.

Ed,
That's a good suggestion; I have the Magic eraser thing somewhere here and will try it ...
Thanks
