Thanks to Paul, for this radio temptation: If you like vintage, how about the Sony ICF-J40 which has been manufactured for the past 20 years!? http://www.flickr.com/photos/meckel/2072295418/ Click on "ALL SIZES" to see a larger version of the photo. Again I cannot find a place online to order this. Speaking of radio eye candy, Mike W has alerted me to the Sony ICF-6000:

Praise for the Sony ICF-S5W from the Yahoo UltralighDX group, by Richard Berler. In what appears below, Richard's mention of the "slider E100" refers to a modified Eton E100 with a larger ferrite bar antenna, for AM DX purposes:
---
"I also find my [Sony] ICF-S5W (had it since 1981) to be my flagship set, even over the slider E100. What amazes me is that the Sony accomplishes its outstanding sensitivity with a smaller, 6.375" antenna! It's filter is quite good. It can seperate stations 10 KHz apart that are undoable on the DT-400VX and PR-D5. The PR-D5 has a 7.874" antenna; the [Eton E100] slider has one 7.5". How does the Sony do so well? It is also my best set in an urban market packed with local am stations."

So ferrite size isn't everything. Good to know. Thank, Paul.

Here you go, no bids yet.
The "Electrobrand" mentioned earlier today probably has nothing on this Worldstar---and this one is under ten bucks right now.
