After reading my post that the Sangean PR-D5 can hold its own on AM against the much more expensive Grundig Satellit 750 but falls short on FM, Mike decided to test FM on his PR-D5:
I was scoping out a spot for an outdoor FM antenna earlier today, and had just read Jeff's remark about how "the PR-D5 is not an FM grabber", so I took my PR-D5 and my RF-2200 out on my deck, which is maybe 20' above ground level (20" if you're Nigel Tufnel).
Lo and Behold, the PR-D5 was missing all this stuff that the RF-2200 got loud and clear. And when I first got the PR-D5, I thought the FM was great.
Guess I'm mostly a local FM listener and I never noticed. The PR-D5 really is weaker on FM than I thought. The RF-2200 is great, but digital tuning is so convenient...
