Where's all the Tom Clancy and spaghetti westerns and "adventure" books that stands between the romance section and trash bin? Okay fine, the article mentions "many of whom had some professional connection with literature," so maybe the pop genre fictions won't be in there, but really, the results sound awkward.
I've got issues w/ Heart of Darkness as I find it a semi-racist text that -- though it attempts to critique imperialist and colonial attitudes -- ends up reinforcing those same attitudes to a pretty impressive extent. Oh, and The Great Gatsby was an awful book.

I could never get through the Heart of Darkness. I hated Gatsby in high school but have grown to appreciate it as a masterpiece.
