What you expressed to your readers should be sent to Boston Acoustics! Too many problems with the BA Horizon Duo.

Two weeks ago I bought Electrohome lunchbox. And two weeks this is my favorite receiver. Few reasons for this: First is sound. Sound outstanding.FM has beats; it is loud and good quality definitions of instrument. I am enjoying talk radio on AM, warm and soft. It is not tiny sound SONY 7600.It is real big sound. It is not Boston Acoustic Receptor with Mickey Mouse AM reception. I receive seventy AM stations in evening!!!! Mostly many of them very well readable! Listen weak signal more enjoyable than on my SONY 7600, EX5. Sony receive signal stronger but sound of Sony is big disadvantage. Electrohome is handy and build very well. I take this radio with me in camping and enjoy AM DXind in evening and FM music in day. Receiver has good buttery live for this reach sound. Every time when I connect to electricity I don’t have to open compartment or just connect adapter like in old receivers.AC/DC wire on bag panel .It is small things, but it is very convenient. It is cool radio. I don’t know what could happen with AM reception in the future, but so far it works well for me.

Appreciate the warning. Was eyeing one of these for my 16 year old daughter.

I have my eye on a Sangean U3 but don't know how its FM reception is with its rubber FM antenna. If anyone knows . . .

Regarding the problems with the Duos, if I were you, I'd contact BA and request either (1) a full refund, or (2) a free extended warranty (with free two-way shipping). They should know better than to put out unreliable garbage like this, and they should certainly stand behind their products.

Based on previous phone calls, I'm doubtful they'd do the right thing as you've described and I can't deal with the blood pressure. On the other hand, I've got nothing to lose . . . Maybe I will call them.

If your phone call doesn't get the desired results, then I recommend a well-crafted letter, sent to someone in the company who has the authority to make things right.
