John has apprised us of this sale on the Cambridge Soundworks 720. My only misgiving is that I've heard it gets bad AM reception. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I can't speak to the digital 720, but my analog CS radio 705 has excellent AM and FM reception. It has room filling and very clear sound even with it's single speaker, perhaps because of the bass port in the back. It is my "showoff" radio and out performs my grundig S350DL in every way except portability.

Half-off? I don't recall seeing this model in the past. Did I just miss it?
The pictures of the SoundWorks 720 radio on the manufacturer's website appears virtually identical to CSW's (apparently) discontinued model 820HD HD Radio -- sans the HD Radio logo, of course. One other possible difference is that the website 720 picture suggests that there's a USB 'B' connector on the back where the 820HD had a Toslink optical digital audio connector.
Makes me wonder what's inside. A conventional analog radio, or possibly the guts of an HD Radio receiver with the HD Radio function disabled in firmware?
My experience with the 820HD was limited. It seemed like a pretty good HD Radio receiver, and I was sad to see it disappear from the CSW offerings. The only downside of the sample I worked with is that it 'locked up' every once in a while. (Not an unknown problem with earlier HD Radio receivers.)

Just received my Soundworks Radio 720 that I got for 99.00 and she's a beauty!
I do see a faint orange HD)symbol (not lit up)in the display. I bet they did indeed take the case and or the guts of the discontinued 820HD and make it a 720, and disabled the HD functionality in the firmware. It does display the FCC call letters of the station incorrectly. For instance, I am listening to B101, which is WWBB 101.5
The 720 displays it as KFQH and not WWBB.
Possibly the KFQH is a hanger on from the disabled HD functionality? Does the FCC assign different call letters for a radio station's HD?
