I agree with Carlos that the Sony TFM-800 is one of the best analog radios you can get:
My analog TFM-8000w outperforms all my digital receivers on every band, especially MW and SW. Why would I want to switch to digital? I've tested a fair share of digital receivers. The best I've tested is the CCRadio-SW - but it still doesn't perform like the TFM. I hooked up an amplified loop SW antenna to the TFM and I get EVERYTHING. They go for about $100 on eBay - why would I buy an ICF-7600GR or a G5? Those are fine radios, but not even in the same sport as the TFM, IMO.

Sorry but I don't think so.Why don't you guys align your radios before making a judgement ?

Hombre, I know you're not ripping on my TFM.
Of course, I live at a rather high elevation, and on the east coast, so maybe it is as Jeff says - location.
But it is the best receiver I've ever owned. Seriously, with the active antenna I get everything on SW. My 7600GR can't even keep up, let alone compete.

Carlos:
I too have this model, in fact I have 2 of them and I don't agree that the TFM-8000W is better than CCRadioSW (I also have one) in neither band, and my 2 radios are very extremely and carefully aligned. According to your report I'm glad I didn't buy the ICF-7600GR when I had the chance :)
My best radios in AM are the GE Superadio 1 or 2 in stock mode and the 3 with some mods, and closely in second place a tie of CCradioPlus, Panasonic RF-2200,RF-1150 and RF-1180.
Here's one of my radios:

considering everything i listen to on HF besides 3885 is SSB, i think this couldnt "keep up" with 7600GR
or is there a BFO knob hidden around the side?

Wow! Lots of radio allegiance. I love it.
No BFO on the TFM, so not really a fair comparison in that regard. As far as zeroing in and distinguishing (selecting) SW frequencies, though, the TFM has much more aptitude than the 7600GR by means of the fine tuning knob.
