Grace Digital Allegro review

Radio Russ

That's a great looking radio that appeals to me on many levels. That's what I should have looked for instead of the Grundig S750. Does the VU meter work well Jeff?

Jeffrey McMahon

The meter works. The biggest problem is scratchy volume control. Spray worked a little, but I didn't take it apart to spray the inside, which I'm supposed to do. I don't buy vintages anymore because of my lack of confidence with repairs.

That radio just screams "quality." It looks like if you were to take it apart and take all the knobs off and clean them up, it'd look even better. Too bad you lack the confidence to do that, I've taken apart two vintage panasonics now to clean them up not knowing what I was doing, but both were quite self-explanatory.

Carlos

I bet if you took that radio to a club, wearing military fatigues and an American flag bandanna, the ladies wouldn't be able to keep their hands off of you.

Or, if it was May 5th, you might be excommunicated....

Carlos: Thanks (I think) for the link. I got mad at the school adminstrators while reading it, but it's important to know that things like this are happening. Remind me not to ever send my kid to school there.

Carlos

Angelo: you're welcome. Some weird things are happening in this country. I was listening to Radio Cuba out of Havana the other night on my ICF-F10s, a very fine analog SW receiver in my opinion. The topic of the Arizona legislation came up, and the host said, "There are no illegal people." Dude, that's not the point. The point is that countries have rules or they cease to be countries. It's actually quite easy, and simple. You just become a citizen like everyone else. My people became citizens, your people became citizens - that's how you become an American. We're the most welcoming nation in the world, but you gotta play by the rules and feed the pot or before you know it the pot won't exist anymore.

The article says;
"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."
Firsts of all, 5 de Mayo is like any other day for us the Mexican,WE CARE FOR IT AS MUCH AS WE CARE for May 1'st (Labors Day) or in short NADA! our really important day is September 15 !, besides american people not mexican was disrepected because they are in THEIR country minorities are minorities! Everybody should respect their native country, Americans fight for your country's traditions as we Mexican would fight for OURS.
GOD BLESS AMERICA !
Amen

Legal immigration is one of the reasons our country became the greatest nation in the world. The work ethic, energy and ambition of people who came here from everywhere else boosted us. The customs people brought with them gave us the wonderful mix of culture we have---foods, colors, traditions----whether Asian, Latin/Hispanic, African or European---it gives us a fiber that is tougher and better than anywhere else. The problem isn't immigration. It's ILLEGAL immigration. Drug runners are not what we want or need. People who disregard our laws are not what we want or need. Mexico's government complains about our immigration policy, but what is theirs? Believe me, they crack down hard on anyone trying to enter Mexico illegally from southern/eastern borders. I honestly believe that most people opposed to illegal immigration and in favor of Arizona's law have nothing against poeple of color---and are not hateful toward Mexican people or hispanic/latino people coming in from other nations. This is more about wanting to know who is coming in and it's also about having control over our population, national security and the like.

Carlos

Angelo: you're exactly right. While bigoted racists surely exist, this law is not driven by bigotry or by racism.

Washington politicians have called it racist to stir malcontent and divisiveness, because they know who butters their bread. Now you have a whole sub-sect of people who don't have a clue what the legislation is really about, but who have been told that it is "racist" and that they should be angry about it. It's a sad case of ignorance and misinformation.

I have a Panasonic Rf 1130 and I found it at an electronic store for $25.00
It works well except that the Treble tone button was missing. The station Id was stuck but the tuner still rotated so I don,t know where the station is.
Its a great sensitive radio for DXing especially the Am band.
I would love to know what year this radio came from and if you can buy another one new.
