When I first got hit by the watch bug a few years ago, ogling at a 60mm Invicta Corduba at a watch store (eventually bought on Amazon for 40% of the watch store price), I got on a chunky bling watch kick, which included Nixon 51-30 models and the Invicta Russian Diver.
But an aversion to metal bracelets (too uncomfortable) and the realization that chunky watch dazzle should be relegated to single fops has turned my attention toward more conservative models. Also, I'm warming up to my Seiko Orange Monster (with black rubber strap), which has veered me to the Seiko divers. Very compelling is their unparalleled dial illumination and automatic movement. My next two watches will most likely be the Seiko 5 Orange Diver SKZ249K1 and the Seiko 5 Yellow Diver SKZ251K2.

I'm s sucker for Seikos too---especially older ones. Seiko movements are as good as any (especially dollar for dollar) and their designs wear very well. For over the top styling, I like Invicta. For "closer to the vest" but still adventurous designs, Seiko is king.

Invicta has a Subaqua Venom series, some with rubber straps, which I find especially appealing. But they are pricey.

Don't know how "manly" these are, but I think they're really cool and hi-tech-looking:
