When I got bit by the watch bug a few years ago, I had to have huge, oversized (often 60 mm bezels crown to crown, mostly Invicta and Nixon 51-30 models), but lately my tastes have changed. Mostly I am drawn to upscale diver watches with more simple, elegant designs.
I'm not sure I'm poised to spend $850-1,300 on some of the watches I currently like such as the Dievas Aqualuna Gray, but my liking for my $180 Seiko Orange Monster with black rubber strap (only 45 mm across the bezel and crown) continues to grow and grow. I wear it more than my more flashy watches and rather than spend close to a grand on an upscale diver I'm tempted to get the Seiko Black Monster with metal bracelet. I shouldn't be surprised by my change in tastes. Flash never lasts long. Classic design does.
