Thanks, Gary:
(from Yahoo Satellit-750 group, message #1148)
To turn off the beep: power off the unit. power-on the unit THEN press 0 for 3 seconds it should turn the beep off. ----------- (someone else commented that it might be closer to 5 seconds) Apparently this only works with a newer version of the Sat 750. For the early ones, some folks on the Yahoo group have disassembled the radio and physically crushed the beeper. Why they released any units that can't have the beep canceled via firmware, I have no idea. BTW, on the PL-380 the beep can easily be eliminated. I suspect the PL-390 is the same.
Yes, the PL-390 beep can be turned off without crushing anything. There is a beep on/off button.
The english manual is actually pretty good for this radio and has the beep on/off instructions on page 21.

I sincerely thank you for posting this Gary. I also thank David at the Yahoo group for sharing. It completely removed the beep. My wife was kept awake by it and now I get to keep the 750 as my bedside radio. I do have the latest version of the 750 and love the radio. The negative reviews baffle me. Perhaps if I had the original version of the radio I would not be as happy with it.
