(Re-post)
Like most people, I love the old Sonys and Pannys, but wait, look at this! I've bought a couple of old Sanyos lately. One of them was too damaged to restore so I took it apart thinking I might use the parts. Here's what I found inside. It's the longest ferrite I've seen so far at 210mm. But ever better, have a look at the 200mm ferrite in the Sanyo RP-8700! Hello. It's the fattest one I've even seen.
This is now my new bedside radio. It is described as "super sensitive" and I'd have to agree. The wonderful Military style display stays lit all the time but at a nice easy low level. It picks up great. Definitely puts my 7600gr to shame, at least on AM. Shortwave is a different story. I guess I can stop searching for a Panasonic now.
