KPCC's move to the Mohn Broadcast Center did not change the transmission point. which is located at the transmitter cluster located on Mount Wilson. At 600W ERP, KPCC is one of the smallest broadcasters around.

Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver with Metal Bracelet No Longer Available

I own two of the Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Divers, one in the metal bracelet and one with the rubher strap. As far as I know, the metal version, on sale on Amazon for $270, is discontinued. What a shame. It's a lot of watch for the money.

It strains my credulity that this seller says he paid $630 for this JVC RC-M70 back in 1987. I wonder what he expects to get now.

There are several dozens of upscale diver watches, ranging from $600-$3,000, that I find very intriguing, not the least of which are made by Ocean7, Dievas, UTS, Doxa, Kaziman, Lum-Tec, and others, but if you're trying to keep your budget in the $250 ballpark, check out the Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver with rubber strap and the stainless steel version. 

I have both and find the styling to be rugged, utilitarian, and attractive, like watches that cost three or four times as much. Additionally, these Citizens are solar and you don't need to worry about automatic movement or battery replacement. 

The solar battery? I hear it lasts 30 years. Also, the build quality on these Citizens, which are all hand-made, is topnotch and affords you that comfortable heavy feeling.

For Brandon, the C.Crane EP Radio Lacks Features to Compete with His Current Collection

 

 

I see in the catalog now they have a picture of the right side of the EP radio. Those 3 knobs are volume, tuning, and twin ferrite coil fine tuning.

Also a new detail is that you can fully detach the internal AM antenna if you hook up an external am antenna.

Unfortunately for me, I have a radio that already does everything this one does and more. Now if CCrane added an analog signal meter, a digital read-out, and a wide/narrow switch (great things to fill up all that empty front space with) and raised the price to say $99, I might be interested.

 

On the Paris Subway You Could Cut the Tension with a Knife

 

One of my students just got back from a study abroad semester in Paris. She said the Parisians were rude to her and her classmates and worse on the subway there was a palpable tension between the French and the Muslims, huddled separately in the crowded compartments, that was so bad "you could cut it with a knife."

Hostility between the French and Muslims is evident in part by French law that forbids the traditional head covering for Muslim women. 

It appears that in Europe the Muslim population tends to be  insular, resulting in greater tensions between the two groups whereas in the United States Muslims tend to be more integrated, abating such a rank state of affairs. I say this even in light of the current controversy regarding the Muslim center that is unwelcome by many as being at the site of Ground Zero.
