Apparently these are carousel-style presets, like those on the DT-400W or CCRadio-SW. You can store more frequencies this way than with direct-access presets, like those on the PR-D5 and PR-D7, but it takes more button pushing to get to the one you want.

Re-use of established radio designs, feature sets, components, and materials are the least expensive way manufacturers invent new products.
