Interesting, but if you want simple, compact AM-FM, try E-Bay 280606374057
I'll send a full review on this radio soon. These are available for under $20.00 (that includes shipping!) and can work on "D" batteries, for long service life. I know, it's Tecsun, not Sony----but a good deal nonetheless. I actually overpaid for mine by breaking my own rule---I usually research this stuff to death, but jumped on one for $10.00 plus $8.50 shipping, when I could have saved some money if I had spent a couple minutes and found the above listing before ordering. Oh well, I think I still paid a fair price.

Angelo.
I have a Sony ICF-10MK2. The radio is truly great portable for $10, simple and good build.
I am wondering if you can compare with Tecsun. Tecsun looks bigger with a big speaker.
It is very interesting to compare its performance with Sony.

I have the sister model ICF-790, the same but also including Long Wave, in the "outhouse" in the summer house. Got it from a flea market last spring for 5 €. It's supposedly from 1998 and made in Japan. It's bigger than it looks in the picture. The reception is great and the sound is full, thanks to the big speaker and tone control. Haven't listened it long enough to know how long the batteries last, I guess really long. For random comparison, the Tangent Quattro internet radio with FM in the same location is completely useless on FM, even with the strongest national networks, while the Sony picks up all the local stations from nearby areas.

Looks new, even though it's not.
I wonder if it's a good radio?
