I've had a few Grundig/Eton S350DL radios over the years, including the pre-DL models. They are analog with digital read-out. The most glaring cheapness factor is the tuning knob, which feels loose and sloppy, a real turn-off. Add to that my laziness and the love of convenience, which have compelled me to use digital preset radios and you can see why I've sold my S350s.
But then RadioShack recently had a sale on them, a tad under $60. And here's the kicker: I missed mine. There is something about the huge, oversized FM antenna that speaks FM power and let's face it, the FM sensitivity is powerful.
But as I powered up my new black Grundig S350, the thing I noticed most is the HUGE speaker sound. This thing fills a room. I really missed that speaker.
I haven't tested the S350 all over the house, just by the piano in the workout room, and the AM in this location has been fine, no ugly background noise, no hisses, no cracks, no birdies.
No buyer's remorse here. I'm glad I've got an S350 in the house. Now I'm just waiting for the digital S450 upgrade.
