I go to the farmer's market in part to get out of my eating rut. As a creature of habit, for lunch I'd eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the rest of my life if I could (1967 I'd return home from kindergarten to see my p and j sandwich waiting for me while Mother folded laundry and watched Let's Make a Deal, but I digress), but if you throw variety in my face and convince me it's good, I'll get out of my eating bubble.
Today, my wife Carrie, two toddlers, Natalie and Julia, and I went to the farmer's market at Wilson Park in Torrance and we got some good ideas: We bought pear cactus tortillas from one vendor and cilantro pesto from another. We took it home and made scrambled eggs and mozzarella topped with the pesto and wrapped in the tortillas. I could eat that every day but then I would have fallen into my trap again.
