I'm home sick today with my twin daughters and after talking to C.Crane Tech Support minutyes ago about my C.Crane SW radio, I learned that I was pressing the wrong button to set presets. And I just read Gary's comment which had I read earlier I would not have had to call tech support:
Do NOT press the Charge/Memory button to set presets. Press the Clock/Set/Memory/Set button instead.
I stand corrected and a little chagrined. But God am I ill. I'm not returning to work until Thursday at the earliest. This chest cold is brutal.
So how do you like the radio overall? Performance wise, etc.

Dan, the speaker doesn't sound as harsh as memory serves me which is obviously a good thing.
FM is strong with the antenna fully extended.
AM is better than average with one problem: 570 in the early morning has huge interference which clears up after 9 AM or so.
As an outdoor radio that fills my front patio it is excellent. Speakers get loud. Voices easy to hear.

Glad to hear the positive comments. I've got a refurbished unit on its way which seemed like a good value, so hopefully I get a good one.

i just received my refurbishd from C Crane yesterday. I only had a couple of hours to play with it and explore it, but beyond the initial learning curve, I love it. Audio is so rich and deep. I actually FELT the bass on a nice Latin diddy from RHC!

I hope you get well soon. I have the Kaito 2100, and I think it is just fine for casual listening to shortwave, broadcast band AM, and FM.
