Ed is right that the switch is a poor design, but putting tape of the correct thickness around the inner portion of the knob keeps the shaft from wobbling around within the hole in the front panel. It makes the slop much less noticeable.

Gary

In other words, the tape goes between the knob and the hole in the front panel, not between the shaft and the hole in the knob.

Dan

If that is the case, then C Crane would already be aware of this I'm sure. Gary, I had placed the tape between the shaft and the hole in the knob, but i will try it around the knob itself instead. thanks guys!

When I discovered a potential issue with their FM Transmitter 2 the C. Crane tech staff seemed genuinely interested in finding a resolution to the problem as I was concerned that it could have been a manufacturing issue. It ended up being a poor solder joint resulted in the unit not performing up to spec. Once I repaired the solder joint the unit came right up to published specs. They planned on implementing additional tests in manufacturing to lessen the chance of that sort of problem re-occuring.

I think C. Crane would take an interest in resolving this switch problem depending on failure / return rate for the radio. C. Crane seems a bit more protective of their brand than most others.
