I had one of these WRX-911's from back in 2006. The only difference seen since then is a re-marking of the SW bands. These have generally been an excellent receiver for their price.
One thing never mentioned in these reviews is the battery-life. I am pleased to report that 24/7 ops of this model or the newer Tecsun R-911 radio is in excess of 400 hours. Thats not a typo... 400 hours (I've gotten 480 hours on several occasions using RayOVac brand alkalines).
Truly, in a major snowstorm/weather event you won't need to replace two decent alkaline batteries for a LONG time: forget the rechargables here. Considering the AM-BCB reception will be better due to no "local" noise, you just can't beat this little set or most of the others (R-911, R-9012, R-912, WRX-911, R-9710). IMHO everyone should have one of these tucked away JIC, cause JIC usually happens. Paul S. in CT
I own the similar Tecsun R-9012. For its size, it works pretty well on AM (MW and SW), but not on FM. Some stations appear at multiple points on the dial, while others can't be heard at all.

It requires no batteries at all if you want, and has weather band, and weather band is absolutely critical for JIC. AM, FM (with RDS), shortwave, and weather band. $79.99..

S Patrick - There are several reviews of the Kaito KA600 on Amazon, mostly positive, except for a couple of units that did not work properly.
