Regarding the CCRadio-SW, I think mine has very good sound, with pretty deep bass for such a small unit when the bass control is adjusted appropriately. The midrange is clear and the treble is not bad either.
The reception on AM and FM is very good. As far as the presets go, most often I don't use them, because it's pretty fast getting from one end of the dial to the other with the tuning knob -- certainly much faster than with an analog radio like the SR III. Also, the CCR-SW doesn't drift like my SR III does.
I like that the CCR-SW can run on either D cells or AA cells -- I use some old Maha PowerEx NiMH AAs, and they last for a couple of weeks, using the radio about 45 minutes to an hour per day. I have two sets, and I charge them externally in a Maha charger. With newer NiMH AAs, I'm sure I would get even more run time.

Gary:
why you charge externally those batteries when you can do it internally within the radio ???? Just asking ...

Hugo - Charging batteries individually optimizes their capacity and longevity. Charging internally (in series) cannot do this, and often results in reduced run time and premature death of the batteries.
Plus, if something goes wrong when charging, I don't want to destroy my radio. I externally charge the batteries for all of my radios and scanners.
Regarding the CCRadio-SW in particular, I just swap back and forth between two sets of older NiMH batteries. I've been doing this for a couple of years, and it works for me.

Yeah, the CCRadio-SW is fantastic. I've been impressed with it since I got it. Highly recommended. My review's around here somewhere, I think.
