I don't know. Crane is hyping his radio for being double-conversion. I could understand playing up a triple-conversion radio, but double-conversion is nothing special.

What I did not here him explaining is why CCrane released a single conversion CC-Radio EP (especially since the preliminary announcement was that it would be double conversion).

From what pics I could find online looks like it has a 5-inch speaker and about a 6.5" ferrite rod. Made in 1980. Has separate bass and treble controls. I suspect it'd be a good performer.

It appears that the CCRadio-3 is based on, or the same as, the Roberts Revival Radio. I guess I don't get the point.

@Doug T. - If I'm not mistaken, the CCRadio-2 is single conversion, like the CCRadio-EP.

Ante

They even show Roberts Revival Radio on the video, and CCrane has been selling those for a while. Weird. Speaking of simplicity and anti-tech radio, haven't they already done that with CCRAdio EP?

Doug T.

Gary, I did not know the CCRadio-2 was single conversion (I do not own one). The CCRadio-SW (which I own as the KA-2100) appears to be double conversion.

The problem with single conversion, of course, is that images show up radio band. This is especially true for those of us living near powerful transmitters (which includes pretty much everyone in the US who lives in a highly populated area.)

Gary

You're right on both points, Doug. I prefer double conversion over single conversion, all else being equal.
